BIO2051 SpTp: Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy

This course will examine the structural and functional relationships of vertebrate morphology through comparisons of the vertebrate body plan and anatomical structure of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Emphasis will be placed on the role of evolution in the development of vertebrate morphology. Dissection of representative species of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals will be conducted to allow students to see firsthand similarities an differences in body plan and organ systems of vertebrates, including Homo sapiens. This course is designed to give students a comprehensive overview of basic principles of vertebrate, including human, anatomy and structure-function relationships. Credits: 4
