PSY2012 ST: Exercise in Positive Psychology

In this one-credit course, students meet weekly to practice research-based techniques for wellness and formulate adaptations to make these techniques neurodiversity-friendly. Research has shown that the deliberate inclusion of positive habits and practices in one’s life can reduce stress, improve emotional regulation, and increase life satisfaction. This approach differs from other stress management tactics because the focus is on adding positivity; not reducing negative emotional states. Students will actively practice savoring, gratitude, generosity, mindfulness, and other interventions; and they will reflect on the impact of these practices. Learning activities will include positive psychology exercises, lecture, discussion, reflective writing, and a final project. Credits: 1.000
