NSC2041 ST: Climate Change: Causes & Solutions

The Climate Crisis is the biggest threat to humanity, yet there is a lot of misinformation. The IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) reports states that we have approximately 10 years to make significant changes to our way of life in order to reduce the worst impacts, but isn’t the climate always changing? In this course we will review the facts and arguments of climate deniers to the growing evidence. In the first half of the semester we will discuss the causes of the climate crisis and their impacts on life. In the second half of the semester we will discuss the many potential solutions already available to reducing or reversing the worst impacts. Students will read a series of articles, watch documentaries and speak to experts in the filed to learn about the issue from a variety of angles to build their own thoughts on the issue. Each student will investigate solutions to the crisis as part of an independent research project. Credits: 3.000
