PSY3081 ST: Psychology Research in Practice


This project-based course will guide students through the process of conceptualizing and designing a study in psychology or a closely related field. Students will read a range of research examples, identify the methodologies used, and evaluate the strength of conclusions proposed by the researchers. After surveying study samples, students will complete the CITI research ethics course online, formulate their own question, and write a research proposal. The proposal will include a literature review, description and justification of methodology, instrumentation, data analysis plan, and potential applications of the study. This course is designed for students enrolled in the bachelor’s level psychology program and for students who intend to study psychology, education, or a social science in graduate school. The enrollment prerequisite is PSY2011, Introduction to Psychology Research, or permission of the Department Chair. Credits: 3.000
