REL2062 ST:Religion and Pop Culture


This course examines some of the complex ways in which religion and popular culture interact and explores the possible significance of those interactions. Students will examine the intersection of religion and popular culture in a range of popular media including the internet, movies, television, music, and novels. They will also explore current events and topics such as advertising, self-help spirituality, sports and recreation, gender and sexuality, race and ethnicity, and others. The course will include lecture, discussion, reading and other media, and written responses. Credits: 3.000
