COM3041 Leadership and Change


This upper-level course provides an intensive focus on developing knowledge and strengths as a leader and changemaker. The course emphasizes critical reflection on communicative choices that bring awareness to key factors of success as a leader. Readings will introduce students to a broad survey of leadership theories, as well as building one’s own leadership identity. Weaving together case studies on prominent world leaders, short-term, team-based, and individual projects, students will learn about the social dimensions involved in facilitating visionary social change. Learners will investigate facets of leadership including emotional intelligence, leadership styles and traits, content-relationship dimensions in communication, diversity and inclusion concepts, conflict management, rhetoric, and ethics. This course is conducted mainly through a mix of lectures, discussion, guest speakers, and project work. Credits: 3.000
