COM3061 Guided Leadership Practicum

In this experiential course, students will apply project management and leadership skills in a collaborative, team-based format. Dimensions of project management and group collaboration are explicitly taught throughout the course. Needs assessment, resource allocation and management, market research, and effective leadership are all competencies to be developed throughout this course. This course will be taught as a hands-on, collaborative learning experience, in which students will drive the process from the conception of an idea, the development of the project to its final implementation. Course materials include self-assessments and inventories to evaluate strengths as leaders and team members, project management guides and tutorials, and case studies. The team-based group project will focus on a specific process to resolve a real-world problem. Students may collaborate in a variety of ways and may include creating a messaging campaign, developing a business plan, creating a specific proposal, or a civic engagement project. Credits: 3.000
