HUM3071 ST: Represent Neurodivers in Pop Culture This interdisciplinary course explores the social construction of neurodiversity in popular culture, including social and print media, book excerpts, film, and television/streaming service series. Students will review historical and contemporary perspectives on neurodivergence and critically examine representations of neurodivergent identities through a theoretical and course-developed lens. Ethical considerations concerning the portrayal and depiction of neurodivergent individuals will be discussed, as well as issues of social justice advocacy, intersectionality, and the rhetoric of (dis)ability. Students will have the opportunity to complete an individual project on a topic from the course. Credits: 3.000
