PHO2041 ST:Brief History of Photography A Brief History of Photography is a practice-based history course emphasizing the camera arts as the endeavor to understand the human condition through the art of extending sight. Students learn about historic photographic processes while simultaneously using them to author creative works. Photographic processes include: pinhole photography, salt printing, cyanotype, kallitype, silver gelatin, data moshing, and more. In its survey of history, the course emphasizes photography and cinema as branches of natural philosophy with precedents in the genre of philosophical toys and ancient tools for observational astronomy. Students can expect to spend equal time exploring the creative potentials of photo-chemistry and learning about the history of cinema and photography. Credits: 3.000
