PER1011 Spoken Word Students will explore poetry as a written and spoken medium with an emphasis on producing and responding to original creative work. Students will examine the craft as a conduit for addressing social and political issues. Literary techniques explored in the course include metaphor, simile, symbolism, point of view, and interpreted meaning. Students will also identify and examine the significance of specific themes that manifest themselves in writings and draw parallels to the thematic content of the writing they are producing for the class.
