ART3039 PV: Making Autobiographical Comics Students are the heroes of the visual stories they create in the course Autobiographical Comics. In this upper division are elective, students will review the basic concepts of visual storytelling presented by Scott McCloud in Making Comics. They will also study a range of comics that feature the writer as main character including diary comics, certain kinds of comics journalism, and graphic memoirs. These will serve as models for the three comics projects students produce over the semester. A portfolio of revisions and a metacognitive essay will be the final project for the course. No in-depth drawing experience is required, but experiments with various means of visual representation and pictorial composition will be an emphasis of the course. Credits: 3.000
