PSY3027 PV:Motivation and Achievement This course explores academic motivation and achievement through a multicultural, social, and developmental lens. Students will examine how cultural contexts shape motivational processes, achievement behaviors, and educational outcomes across the lifespan. Questions this course will explore include: How do key motivation theories such as growth mindset, expectancy-value theory, self-efficacy, and goal orientation help us understand academic success? In what ways to do social agents - such as peers, parents, and educators - shape students’ motivation and achievement behaviors? How can cultural artifacts such as children’s books, classroom materials, and curricula reveal the influence of cultural values, educational systems, and social expectations on academic outcomes? Students will read psychological research articles on these topics, engage in thoughtful discussions, and complete a research project analyzing a cultural artifact or practice. Credits: 3.000
