AT1940 Jazz Ensemble Level III

This course is offered to students who have passed AT1720 and AT1930 in order to further study and perform in the various jazz idioms. This course will focus on refinement and amalgamation of music reading, performance, improvisation, and musical interpretation skills. Repertoire will be different from their experience in AT1720 and 1930. Students will improvise and play one of the instrumental lines in the Jazz Ensembles arrangements which consist of 1) Melody 2) Harmony 3) Chord Changes 4) Bass or 5) Percussion. Successful completion of AT1720 and AT1930 are the prerequisites for this course. Students are required to attend one rehearsal per week, improve their improvisation skills, and participate in campus performances during the semester. Credits: 1.000
