AT2711 Introduction to Songwriting Techniques This course is designed for students who wish to learn how to create their own song compositions in various forms and styles. Students will learn to compose lyrics through the use of different narrative strategies incorporating: evocative imagery, figurative language, rhythmic verbal patterns, and engaging ideas. Lyrics, in combination with melody and basic harmony, will result in cohesive and organic structures. Students will work individually and collaboratively. Frequent workshops and discussions of student works in progress will provide a forum for students to develop analytical and creative skills. EN1061, Creative Writing, is recommended, but not required, for this course. Credits: 3.000
