Humanities Concentration

A concentration in the Humanities provides students with a broad foundation to develop understanding into the impact of culture on values, assumptions, and worldview.

A concentration in the Humanities requires 15 total credits. Students must earn an average of C or better in all 15 credits. Students may apply transfer credits towards the achievement of a concentration.

Required Foundation (Choose one introductory course): 3 credits

HIS1011 Humanities I: Anc & Med West Cult
HIS1012 Humanities II: Renaissance to Present
HIS1021 American Experience I: To 1865
HIS1022 American Experience II: 1865 - Present
HIS1031 History of World Art I
HIS1032 History of World Art II
PHI1011 Introduction to Philosophy
REL1011 Introduction to World Religions
Note: It is recommended, but not required, to take two courses in a sequence at the foundational level, such as HIS1011 and 1012, HIS1021 and HIS1022, etc.

Required Humanities Exploration Area:

12 credits at or above the 2000 level* in any of the following discipline areas:

History (HIS)
Humanities (HUM)
Philosophy (PHI)
Religion (REL)

*Students may take the second course in a sequence of the foundation level as one of their exploration choices.
