The Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts Production (BA-MAP) degree provides hands-on instruction in video, sound, and media production. Students engage in a thoughtful exploration of visual storytelling and the digital arts, creating time-based media including short films, TV segments, podcasts, sound art, and emerging digital works. This major equips students with the technical skills and creative insight necessary for careers in film, television, radio, and emerging media industries.
Upon completion of the Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts Production degree, students will be able to
- Demonstrate proficiency with industry-standard software and hardware for video editing, sound design, and digital media creation.
- Solve common technical challenges in media production, demonstrating adaptability and troubleshooting skills in response to equipment, software, or situational issues.
- Collaborate effectively in a team-based production environment, planning and sharing technical concepts clearly and contributing to shared project goals.
- Formulate media making objectives and select appropriate tools and creative techniques to fulfill them effectively.
- Use knowledge of cultural context to analyze and critique media elements in their own work and that of others.
- Create and exhibit cohesive media projects with a portfolio, reel, or other time-based artifact that exemplifies a creative vision and readiness for entry-level professional roles in media production.
To earn the B.A. in Media Arts Production (MAP) degree, students must complete 121 credits.
