Humanities Minor

A minor in Humanities requires 21 credits earned in the discipline; 6 required credits and 15 elective credits as described below.

Grades of at least C (or P for internships) are required in all courses. Only 6 transferred credits if applicable to requirements, may be applied towards this minor.

Required Courses: total 6 credits

Choose one of the following courses: 3 credits*

  • HIS 1011  Humanities I: Anc & Med West Cult
  • HIS 1012  Humanities II: Renaissance to Present
  • HIS 1021  American Experience I: To 1865
  • HIS 1022  American Experience II: 1865 - Present
  • HIS 1031  History of World Art I
  • HIS 1032  History of World Art II
  • PHI 1011  Introduction to Philosophy
  • REL 1011  Introduction to World Religions

*It is recommended, but not required, to take two courses in a sequence at the foundational level, such as HIS1011 and HIS 1012, HIS1021 and HIS1022, etc.

AND choose one 4000 level course in this discipline: 3 credits

  • INT 4001  , Interdisciplinary Studies Capstone, with a Humanities focus, can fulfill this requirement.

Elective Courses: 15 credits

  • At least two courses (6 credits) need to be at the 3000 or 4000 level.
  • All 15 elective credits need to be within the Humanities disciplines: History (HIS), Humanities (HUM), Philosophy (PHI) or Religion (REL)
