MA1311 Mathematical Ideas

This course explores mathematical thinking and reasoning through the beauty, rigor, and patterns of problem solving, mathematical reasoning, number theory, set theory, logic, probability and statistics, and selected topics in consumer mathematics. This mathematical exploration is intended for the Liberal Arts student who wishes to engage in new ways of thinking and seeing the world. Applications from art, entertainment, and business will be used to illustrate and examine the mathematical principles. Placement test and/or prerequisite of MA0295 required. This course is offered every fall and spring semester. Credits: 3
