CSC3681 Special Topics: Introduction to Robotics This course provides students the opportunity to explore the exciting and emerging field of robotics. Course content will present historical developments of robotics as a field and lead into current topics such as basic concepts of robotics, including sensory systems, mechanical concerns, programming, and different forms of robotic control architectures. The class will begin with the classical sense-plan-act (SPA) method and end by studying the hybrid architectures such as behavior-based robotics. The hands-on approach will focus on modeling, designing, and controlling systems using Lego-based platform to plan, design, and test a robot to interact in real environments. The basics in robotics will be taught in lecture, discussion, and lab experiments. Credits: 3.000
