CS2411 Special Topic: Intro to Artificial Intelligence


This 3-credit course is an introductory survey of the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). An introduction to the history of AI, current social perception of AI, and relevancy to society in general and game playing in particular will be provided. AI theory and implementation through computational methods will be covered. Basic concepts include knowledge representation and related theory of formal languages, propositional and first order logic, state space search, Markov decision processes, uncertainty, and machine learning. Application areas will be studied, including expert systems, natural language understanding, and computer vision. An introduction to the use of AI techniques within the field of robotics will conclude the course. Credits: 3
