SS1631 Introduction to Human Ecology

Students are introduced to the field of human ecology, with an emphasis on the sub-fields of environmental conservation and sustainable development. The course curriculum includes readings, lectures, classroom exercises, field trips, service learning projects, and a research project. The field trips provide opportunities for observations, interactions with other cultures, and access to informants. These comprise the primary resources for the research project. Students experience first-hand different ways people and different cultures think about and interact with their ecosystems. Credits: 3
