This course is an introduction to the multidisciplinary field of neuroscience. In this course we will explore both the micro (cells) and macro (systems) levels of the nervous system and how they relate to behavioral and psychological processes. Specific topics will include neuroanatomy and physiology, sensory and motor systems, higher order functions (i.e. learning and memory, language, consciousness, etc.) and methods of research within the neurosciences. Students will learn to relate cell and systems physiology, understand the role of neuroscience in everyday life, examine and communicate about neuroscience concepts, and integrate their own experiences and interests into the context of the class.
