MUS1041 ST: Music Appreciation

This course will examine music created in its various styles and idioms that have unfolded through the transit of the last 400 years. The diverse contributions of people and cultures of various backgrounds as well as musical icons and iconoclasts will be explored. The course will survey the impacts of social mores and the technological advancements that facilitated the production and consumption of music. Lectures will incorporate recordings, video, photographs, and other visuals, as well as lively group discussions. Outside listening is required. Credits: 3.000
